The littlest of actions can result in a big smile. (:
Hello world, it's 9:51PM and it's time for an updateeee.
Today, I had Creativity Concept for my module lesson. We were supposed to come up with a story that could tug at people's heart strings. Before that, we watched many different short films to brainstorm for our ideas.
Then, it dawned upon me. I realised of how we, as teenagers, would always go through this phrase in life where we start neglecting our parents, even after all they had done for us. This is a common problem, and it led us to our ideas for today.
As I looked through more short films, I realised of how society has became so cruel and uncourteous.
Whenever I go to a hawker centre and eat with my family, I've taken a notice of how they never bother to say thank you to the cleaners. This implies to some of my friends too. They simply make the cleaner seem invisible, and some of them even throw their own rubbish onto the table for the cleaner to clear. That's just one thing that I cannot accept, and hence, I never fail to say my 'Thank yous'.
Have you ever thought of how much humility it takes for someone to be a cleaner? Not everyone can face the thought of cleaning up over someone's mess with their own bare hands. I believe that most of the cleaners are working because they need to earn a living. A simple thank you is not so much to ask for, isn't it? They clean hundreds of tables everyday, and a simple thank you would really show of how much you appreciate their help. If you do ever notice their hands, it's all dry and wrinkled. All because of the countless rinsing and cleaning of the cloth.
The same thing goes for those paying for their items at the cashier. It's not an easy job being one. You have to smile, stand and talk for the entire shift. It wouldn't hurt to say a thank you when they pass you back your reciept or change.
Another thing that frequently occurs is when I hold open the lift door for people, and all they do is walk out without even saying a simple thank you. Even when the lift is filled with 10 or more people, none of them or as little as one person would even bother to do so. It' revulsive. I don't always expect a thank you, but I surely do hope that at least, someone knows that the lift door does not simply holds open by itself, and there's someone there to ensure that no one gets hit by the door. All I ask for is a simple smile, just to let me know that my actions are being appreciated. And that's why, I never fail to say thank you to those that hold open the lift door for me.
All these makes me question on what's exactly wrong with us these days. Aren't we taught from young to say our please and thank yous? These basic courtesy and manners are introduced to us ever since we were in Kindergarten. Where have our moral values gone to?
It's really something to reflect upon.
Anyway, when school ended, boyfriend fetched me homeeee, and yes, I do appreciate him for doing so.
I've been having cramps these days, he being there always makes me feel much better. Thank you boyfrienddd!
But really, fuck cramps. They're the only thing I'll never appreciate in life because they're painful like hell.
And once again, I'd like to bring out this point.
People, please think before you speak. Your words can really kill someone without you knowing it.
That's all for today, look forward to my next post!
Love,
Natalie Ishot
